These Turkish K hats sound just wonderful, with a sandy, wistful wash and an incredibly satusfying foot chick. This pair has a tad more definition and cut than some other old Turkish K’s might, due to a slightly heavier bottom hat than often found in K Istanbuls. More on that below!
This is in fact a mismatched pair of K Istanbul hats. The top hat has the “IVb Old Stamp”, dating it to 1959. The bottom hat has the K Istanbul “New Stamp”, used for cymbals in production from 1967 – 1977. Despite not being a factory pair, these hats work incredibly well together, with the heavier, slightly more modern bottom hat giving the pair a tiny bit more volume and cut, without sacrificing that mystical K Istanbul character.
These hats are in excellent condition, with some minor flea-bites along the edge of the top hat.
